when the wind
is blowing on your face
and the whole world
is on your case
i could offer you
a warm embrace
to make you feel my love
Life is a run-on sentence that is marked not by periods, but by commas and ellipsis.

timeless beauty
Audrey Hepburn
One very smart, classy lady.
"You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him."
— Audrey Hepburn
"Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering - because you can't take it in all at once."
— Audrey Hepburn
"Since the world has existed, there has been injustice. But it is one world, the more so as it becomes smaller, more accessible. There is just no question that there is more obligation that those who have should give to those who have nothing."
— Audrey Hepburn
"I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."

How do you become close friends with someone? I always try to trace back to how I became friends with my best friends today. It probably started with an awkward hi followed by a generic question like "what's your name" or something like that. I've found with my closest friends, we don't need to say much. With you guys, I am completely myself. You take me as I am. Silences are never awkward because we're just so comfortable with it. We can sit and not say a single word to each other, yet feel completely content. They're the people you go out of your way to make happy. And you do it just because you love them.
They'e the people you're going to get into fights with because of pure honesty, but they're also the people you'll always, always fight for. They're the ones that will criticize you, sometimes public humiliate you, and call you out on your mistakes.
Best friends are your partners in crime, accountability buddies, all in one.
They see the worst in you, but always try to bring out your best.
Love is a pretty twisted, irrational concept, if you ask me.
It's the biggest irony of all.

wipeout
Who hasn't had a humbling experience before? Moments where you fall so hard or fail quite terribly? I think of them as a figurative wipeout. You'd be boarding and sure, your derriere hurts from falling backward and your wrists hurt from falling forward, but nothing beats a complete wipeout. You get up, spit out the remaining bits of snow that hasn't yet melted in your mouth, open your eyes to the blinding rays of the sun, and just lie there, stunned. You were literally swept off your feet, but it wasn't prince charming this time, it was your own doing. We have a lot of these wipeouts in life too, eh? Experiences that leave us somewhat stunned. And yes, for the next 20 seconds, you feel like a complete idiot because you're sure everyone just saw what happened. But you know, sitting on the chairlift, I can't even count how many times I've seen people wipeout: skiing, boarding, tubing. We all wipeout at some point, but if you look at it from a different perspective, you'll realize that we're all trying to stay up. We're all bruised. Just get up and go.
Professionals were all amateurs to begin with.

ray
I see the sun has decided to grace the stage. Your presence has been greatly missed, Ray.
Although there haven't been that many sunny days this month, it's great when the sun suddenly makes a surprise appearance on days like today.
No matter what happens tomorrow, I know today is beautiful. That's all that matters.

fairytale
I read because every time I read a different story, I can be someone else. I can be the ignorant girl in A Passage to India that so desperately wants to discover a new world. I can be the writer that questions her identity in Orlando. I can race through time, elope with a forbidden love and have my heart broken ten times over. I can be the villain or the victim. I'll take on whatever character the narrator has for me.
So, who says every story has a Romeo and a tragic ending?
Let's break these walls 'cause life in a tower is way too boring. I'm not letting my hair down that easily.

oh darling don't you ever grow up
Let's keep it simple and never grow up. Don't worry about complications in life. Things haven't changed. You can still cry on my shoulder. We can still make fun of each other. You know I won't get offended. And you can still tell me you love me. It's not awkward because I love you too.
And 10 years down the road, I hope we'll look back and be able to say that "times changed, but we didn't."

enchanted
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
This night is flawless, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
Okay, first of all, taylor has to stop reading my mind.
Second, Adam Young's love-song reply to this is too incredibly cute.

infinite
I just watched Garden State. The movie made me realize that maybe life's not about having the perfect life. Maybe it's about crying when you want to. Maybe it's about being real and accepting the imperfections in life. The sweetest part of Zach and Natalie's relationship was how real they were with each other. They never pretended to be someone they weren't. They didn't have to try to impress each other.
Stand at the abyss and let it out.
Vday
One thing that makes me sad is how people live their lives like it means nothing to them. The choices they make don't matter to them, the relationships they get into don't matter, Nothing matters. And the one question I'm dying to ask these people is: do you really not care, or are you just too scared of admitting you care because then you'd actually have something to lose? I wonder. I see the hurt in your eyes. You just write it off like it meant nothing to you, but your eyes tell it all.
Sometimes, we have this mentality that if we don't try too hard, then failing isn't so bad because well, we never even gave it our best shot, right? Maybe you're afraid to tell someone you love them because you're afraid you won't hear it back.
We construct these walls that stop us from really living. What is living if you don't put your best foot forward? What is living if you play it safe all the time? What is living without risking, losing, loving, hurting, feeling?
And a lot of the time, we'll fail. We'll fail miserably. But who cares? No one really cares, but you.
Some people tell me that love doesn't exist anymore, not in this day and age. It's just about being happy for the moment. Let me tell you that love is not old-fashioned. It's not even something remotely related to what century we're living in. Adam loved Eve, my grandparents loved each other. And love still exists.
A friend asked me how I felt about valentine's day. I think it's a great day for people to celebrate love, true love that seems so rare now. It's one day you can express appreciation for your loved ones, but really, valentine's day is just a recognized day you should be living out every day. You don't have to do extravagant things for people every day, but think about them and let them know you love them. I don't understand why people are so bitter about valentine's day being a single awareness day. It's not an attack on singles at all. Valentine's day is about appreciating everyone that loves you and that you love. If you can't be comfortable being single, how are you going to handle being in a relationship?
And here's a quote for my single ladies ;)
"Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you're pretty sexy and you're taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with."

musings
Good morning. Fresh, chilly morning with a hint of sun today.
You know, we all have those bad days, but small things can turn it all around. I guess I've learnt to put the balance on the good things. Sure, I get mad, sad, pissed, stressed, but the thing is, the bad times will pass and the stress will dissipate. Sometimes, we're so focused on what's happening to us that we forget that we're letting the good things slip between our fingers.
Don't take life so seriously. Don't judge too harshly and don't be too sensitive of others' criticisms.
Soak up the sun because tomorrow might be a rainy day.
Work hard because sometimes opportunities only come once.
Hold on when life gets rocky, but be strong enough to let go when you have to.
Learn how to love yourself first, because you can't love someone else until you've learned that.
Colour outside the lines, break conventional rules.
Find a dream, follow it and baby, run like the wind.

fortherecord
"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness you can never get back."

king of anything
I hate to break it to you babe, but I’m not drowning
There’s no one here to save
Who cares if you disagree?
You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be?
Who died and made you king of anything?
You sound so innocent, all full of good intent
Swear you know best
But you expect me to jump up on board with you
And ride off into your delusional sunset
Let me hold your crown, babe.
Sara Bareilles inspires me :)

t: i really like the sound of thunder
m: why? you're weird.
t: i dunno, it's calming, comforting...
m: how?
t: well you know studies show that babies like the sound of vacuums because it's similar to the rumblings in the womb.
m: but you're not in the womb anymore.
t: well, guess i just never got over it.

just another ordinary day
I have chosen to retire to the comforts of blogging in protest of reading another page of psych. I only have 10 more pages to go, but that in itself seems like an unachievable goal at this moment. And what's more, the midterm's not even based on the textbook. If I believed in Freudian principles, I would say the Id is significantly overpowering the Ego in the sense that I have a far greater desire to take a break, though this conflicts with the reality of time constraints.
psyc
Man, I love psych.
Even though I'd much rather be doing other things than studying at the moment, my psych textbook is kind of interesting :P
It actually talks about happiness in here. Here, I'll share some thoughts with you.
5 popular misconceptions of happiness:
1. The prime determinant of happiness is what happens to us.
2. Money makes us happy.
3. Happiness declines in old age
4. Happiness and negative emotions lie on opposite ends of a spectrum
5. people on the west coast are happiest
There's evidence to support that. See? I do have a basis for these claims.
And of course, what generally makes us happy:
Marriage- apparently married people tend to be happier than unmarried people
Postsecondary education: people that graduate from uni or college tend to be happier
Religion-deeply religious people seem happier
Political affiliation-conservatives appear happies than liberals
Exercise-people who exercise regularly tend to be happier and less depressed than people who don't
Gratitude-being grateful for daily blessings can enhance short-term happiness
Flow-being in a mental state in which we're completely immersed in what we're doing tends to make us happy.
Well, I've got a majority of those things down, oh yeaa.
And the last line in there to sum it all up:
"Happiness lies in the pursuit of the prize, not the prize itself."

first&foremost
I haven't talked to some of you guys for a while, but talking to you guys again feels so good. I missed you. There's something undeniably different about a friendship with people you've grown up with. When I say you're goofs, I mean it in the sincerest way. Don't worry, I admit I'm the biggest goof you will ever meet. I know I always joke around, but when I say I love you, I mean it. And just so you know, I don't keep secrets from you guys, and you know that. All I know is that no one can take away yesterday, and there are many yesterdays to remember, that's for sure.
From playing tag to high school drama, we've been through it all, and now we're on our own, trying to figure out what life is all about. Thank goodness for Skype 5.0, or I wouldn't be able to see all of you guys at the same time. And through it all, I've learnt that the people make the journey so worthwhile. Thank you to my loving friends, and to the parents that taught them how to love first.
To the people that have been with me, pms days and what not, a bigggg thank you.

I ran.
The sun was just setting.
The cold air filled my lungs
And I breathed it all in.
The city was all before me
And all was silent
But the sound of rippling waves.
People, old, young, ran past
and I wonder if they're running away too.
Maybe just for that moment.
Maybe, in one way or another,
We're all running from something.
From our fears, our pasts,
and everything that binds us.
The sun's rays shone
on me, past me, through me
like an x-ray.
I let it all go.
The rays blinded me.
I couldn't see the road in front of me,
But I smiled
And just kept running.
Run with me.
