raw
fly me to the moon
and let me play among the stars
let me see what spring is like
on Jupiter and mars
in other words, hold my hand
in other words, darling kiss me.
Whenever I hear this song, I just feel a sense of comfort and familiarity. A black and white image plays in my mind, of an old couple dancing in the night. Just the two of them. The lyrics in the song are so great. He starts with figurative language that is poetic, yet vague. Then, he simplifies things, saying "in other words, hold my hand. In other words, darling kiss me." It just shows that under all the flowery language and all the complications and overwhelming desires, there's always just a simple underlying need for love. And you don't need to fly to the moon, or see what spring is like on jupiter, because the simple affection of holding her hand is enough.
