...when people work in retail and don't know the meaning of customer service.

breakingdawn

Woke up to birdsongs and gorgeous sunrise.
I haven't been very motivated lately. I haven't been feeling down, per se, but it hasn't been all rainbows and butterflies either. I guess I just forgot how to appreciate the little things. I fell out of being content, and nothing was enough anymore. I complained that the weather wasn't nice enough, I didn't feel well enough, I was too tired... and the excuses kept coming. I forgot the things that used to make me happy: morning walks, freshly brewed coffee, shared silences, deep conversations.
What's reminded me? Just a very simple Starbucks coffee. Thanks, Starbucks, you never fail me.
So, where do I go from here?
I don't really know, to be quite honest, but I'll follow the words engraved on my Kate Spade bag:
Have Courage

I'm sorry, but you should say something. Some people just need to be put in their place, or at least someone has to shake up that arrogance before his ego blows up even more. I don't know you, but from what I've heard, the way you treat people makes you grossly unattractive.

I love feeling of the night air through my open window
and the sound of neverending trains.

My heart's a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note

Make me your radio
Turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

Where has that old friend gone
Lost in a February song
Tell him it won't be long
Til he opens his eyes, opens his eyes
Where is that simple day
Before colors broke into shades
And how did I ever fade
Into this life, into this life

And I never want to let you down
Forgive me if I slip away
When all that I've known is lost and found
I promise you I, I'll come back to you one day

A laugh can be a sign of admiration.
A laugh can show sincerity.
A laugh can be a sign of mockery,
or used to represent superiority.
But sometimes, a laugh can just show apathy.

You can't possibly think everything is that funny.

There are going to be both good times and bad, but the good times won't last forever. Fortunately, the bad times never do either.

The scariest dreams aren't the ones where supernatural things happen. The scariest ones are the ones that are so real that you wake up wondering if it really happened or not.

dearhooligans

Stay in school, kids.

Disappointed. I've seen so much of the city tonight that disgusts me. Not only are there idiots trashing the city, but there are racist comments on the photos that are being posted. I'm seeing a side of Vancouver that I didn't want to see, and although I realize that only a small group of people are committing these CRIMINAL acts, it's still disappointing to see what people are capable of. I'm so sick of racist comments and all this hate going around. You'd think that Vancouver is a multi-cultural city that's really gotten past the racism, but people have expressed their true feelings tonight.
Photos of people trashing cars, looting, etc. are being posted online. What baffles me the most is how people are posting on facebook how they "threw chairs into ikea" or trashed a store, overturned and set fire to a car, or stole a bunch of stuff from a store. Screen shots are being made of these statuses, and once these pictures are online, there is no way of taking it down.
These people deserve the punishment and they're probably going to get it, but a part of me is still sad because I'm sure these aren't horrible people. A lot of these are teenagers that probably just got caught up and didn't stop to think. I heard about a girl stealing $1000 worth of MAC makeup. How much makeup can you really use? Is it really worth it? You're going to be criminally charged and/or go to jail. People, please. It's scary to think about what people are capable in groups. Group polarization has an immense effect on people because no one feels accountable for their actions when they're in a group. It's called deindividuation, hence the diffusion of responsibility. One wrong move, one moment you're too caught up in and it could change your future. So, people, think before you act. Don't they teach you that in school anymore?

#canucksriot

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. I just feel so sad, disappointed and angry at the people that are destroying our beautiful city. I just want all of you to know that this is a small group of brainless idiots that are committing these acts and it doesn't no represent the rest of Vancouver at all. It just makes me so sad that the one thing that brought us together is turning on us now: people are beating each other up, burning cars, attacking police, smashing store windows and looting. I can't believe this. It boggles my mind that these Canuck "fans" are destroying the city. You don't deserve to be a Canuck fan because you're not. If you were a real Canuck fan, you would be happy that the Canucks made it this far. Yes, we lost the Cup, but there is no justification for these criminal acts. This is embarrassing, disgraceful, and disgusting. I was down there at Georgia and Hamilton for the game, and am so glad I left before the riots took a spin for the worst.
Everyone, go home!! People are looting London drugs and taking umbrellas and whatever they can grab. Really? You're going to risk your lives to steal umbrellas. Classy, really classy. I feel so sorry for the people that have been injured from this. I didn't think we'd have a repeat of the '94 incident, but boy am I disappointed.
Pray for those that are still there. And to the idiots causing the riots? Grow a brain, and while you're at it, grow some balls too and man up. Vancouver deserves more respect than this.

at last

Emotions are running high and tension mounts as we come closer and closer to game 7. I can't even say that I'm THAT into hockey, to be honest, but I'm still so nervous for the game tomorrow. I know that Canuck fans will stand by their team tomorrow no matter what happens. It's disheartening to hear that Canuck fans were abused, even physically, while they were in Boston. Canucks were also rejected from a restaurant in Boston because there was "no food left," while all the other customers were eating. Yeah, right.
You know what? Let's be hospitable hosts and treat Boston fans right because we're not poor sports. Let's show them how it's done, Vancouverites.
And Canucks? Let's bring it home.

reallynow?

"In the end we always return to the people that where there from the start."
Maybe not, but we always miss the ones that were there from the start.

Today, I ran.
It was just nice to enjoy the somewhat nice weather and to think, or maybe not to think about anything at all. I ran past your house and looked up at your window. I wish you were still here. I don't know if you knew how much I enjoyed just randomly showing up at your door and shooting hoops with you. Thank you for being there for me when I needed it most, and for not taking sides.
I didn't really know where I was running to. I just started going and ended up somewhere. I guess that's how it is. You never know for sure where you're going to end up. You just keep running, and although you choose which ways to turn and where to go, you never really know where you're going to end up. Maybe you'll end up right back where you started: square one. Maybe you'll get completely lost and realize that learning to find your way back was the best thing that ever happened to you. Maybe you just run because you know you have to.
Sometimes, you meet people along the way that will run with you for a while, but eventually, we all have to go home and go back to our own lives. It's just how it is.
We can keep running, but we can't keep running away forever.
