Today, I ran.
It was just nice to enjoy the somewhat nice weather and to think, or maybe not to think about anything at all. I ran past your house and looked up at your window. I wish you were still here. I don't know if you knew how much I enjoyed just randomly showing up at your door and shooting hoops with you. Thank you for being there for me when I needed it most, and for not taking sides.
I didn't really know where I was running to. I just started going and ended up somewhere. I guess that's how it is. You never know for sure where you're going to end up. You just keep running, and although you choose which ways to turn and where to go, you never really know where you're going to end up. Maybe you'll end up right back where you started: square one. Maybe you'll get completely lost and realize that learning to find your way back was the best thing that ever happened to you. Maybe you just run because you know you have to.
Sometimes, you meet people along the way that will run with you for a while, but eventually, we all have to go home and go back to our own lives. It's just how it is.
We can keep running, but we can't keep running away forever.
